Camp Shalom emerged in 1948 as a vibrant expression of Jewish community and Zionist ideals. Founded by the Toronto Zionist Council, the camp was established in Gravenhurst, Ontario, with a mission to create an immersive Jewish summer experience for children.
The camp's 24 cabins, each named after an Israeli city, symbolize the strong connection to Israel and Jewish identity. Over seven decades, Camp Shalom has grown from a small community initiative to a beloved summer destination that hosts approximately 300 campers per session.
Throughout its history, Camp Shalom has remained committed to its core values of building community, fostering Jewish connections, and providing a dynamic, engaging summer experience. The camp continues to offer a rich program of activities that blend Jewish learning, outdoor adventures, and personal growth, ensuring that each generation of campers develops a deep sense of ruach and connection to their chevra.
